The Current State of Shore

Before I get into this, everything in here is my opinion. You can agree, disagree, whatever. I also used AI to format and clean up my words because if I didn't this would just be one massive unreadable blob of text. But the thoughts, the ideas, the takes — all me.

Shore hasn't been right for a while now. Multi specifically. The seasons have gotten progressively worse and I think its time to just be real about why, what I've realized, and what's coming next.

I Lost the Grind

When I first started Shore all I wanted was to succeed. I tried everything. I remember staying up till 3 AM for multiple nights in a row when we were averaging like 10–15 players. Yeah it was during the summer but I still probably shouldn't have been up that late — that's just how locked in I was. I didn't care. I just wanted this thing to work.

But once Shore hit above 75 players? I can't recall a single night I stayed past 1 AM. Maybe on rare occasions. I got comfortable. I started grinding less, putting in less effort, just kinda coasting off what we already built. And my recent two-week hiatus is proof of that — I literally just disappeared.

But if I'm being honest, if I didn't take that break things would've gotten way worse. The content updates would've been objectively worse quality. I would've been streaming less. And the streams I did do would've been way less energetic, just boring overall. I was burning out and didn't even fully realize it. So yeah the break hurt short term but if I kept going the way I was going it would've hurt way more long term.

And here's the thing — that break actually helped me. It gave me time to step back, reset, and come back actually wanting to work on Shore again. I feel that same hunger I had back when we averaged 10 players. Obviously it's not the exact same situation but the energy feels similar. I'm ready to lock back in.

Why Multi Was Really Declining

A lot of people in the Multi community think the Gamemode Shop killed Multi. I respect that take and you're free to have your own opinion on it, but I disagree.

I actually think it's the opposite. If Shop didn't launch when it did, Shore would've been completely gone. Think about it. Why did we even make Shop? We made it because Multi was already declining. We had no idea why. We were clueless. So we figured lets just build a new gamemode people can grind while we figure things out.

This two-week break finally made me realize the real reasons Multi was dying. There were two big ones.

First — the energy wasn't the same

When Shore was on the come up I was always in voice chats. Always talking to people, hanging out, being part of the community. That energy was a huge part of what made Shore feel alive. But once we "made it" that just disappeared. I didn't want to be in voice chats like that anymore. And when the owner stops showing up like that, people feel it. The vibe shifts. The community loses that thing that made it special in the first place.

Second — the core gameplay never actually changed

After Season 3 (the first season since we relaunched) and Season 4, Seasons 5 and 6 were terrible. They were just straight repeats of the season before. And no game survives long term when nothing actually changes. Yeah we did content updates. But content updates are meaningless if the gameplay you're loading into is the same thing you've been playing for months. People are gonna get bored no matter how fun something is. So when we'd just slap a new spawn together, add a few items, and call it a season — nothing really changed. Multi was still the same. We tried upping payouts, doing more events, more content drops, but none of it mattered because the core experience was identical every time.

Season 1: The New Era

That's why the next season isn't called Season 7 or Chapter 2. It's Season 1: The New Era. We're reworking the core gameplay to actually make it feel different. We're not changing everything but we're making real shifts that affect how you play.

Old powers are gone. Completely new ones coming. We're changing how powers get applied to weapons. And there's a bunch of other stuff I'm not ready to talk about yet because I want it to be a surprise — or at least a surprise until about a week before launch when I start teasing things.

What I will say is this: all of these ideas come from the Multi community. This is what you guys have been asking for. We're finally doing it right.

The new season is gonna take about 2–3 weeks to build out. I'm not gonna rush it just to get something out. I'd rather take the time and actually make it good. I'll be honest though, I am a little scared about how Multi regions are gonna play out with all these changes. But that's a future problem — right now I just need to focus on building it.

To the "Shore Is Done" Crowd

To everyone saying Shore is done, your server is cooked — stfu. I don't know what you expect to happen when the main owner and only content creator takes a two-week break. You think the server was gonna grow? Obviously it's gonna decline when there's no updates, no content, no interaction with the community at all.

That doesn't mean anything long term. This break wasn't great for the short term but it only sets me up to be better going forward. Shore is about to hit a new prime — for Multi and for Shop.

I know actions speak louder than words. I can sit here and write all of this but at the end of the day none of it means anything unless I actually follow through. So I'm not gonna ask you to just believe me. My actions will prove it over the coming weeks. Watch.

I really do miss the come up of Shore. That feeling of watching something grow from nothing was different. So I'm looking at where we are right now as another chance to do that. Another chance to grow Shore exponentially. And I'm looking forward to doing whatever it takes to make Shore the biggest server it can be — without selling out. Most servers in this position would start botting their player count to fake growth. That's not us. Never has been, never will be.

Also — I see everything. I see what people say, what people do, who stays and who doesn't. Those of you that have been loyal through all of this, I really appreciate it. And you know who you are.

We're just getting started.

DM me "new era" if you read this whole thing.
